Question

If velocity and acceleration are in ____ directions, the object is slowing down.

Answer

If velocity and acceleration are in opposite directions, the object is slowing down.
giphy: If velocity and acceleration are in opposite directions, the object is slowing down.
Note: For instance, a ball thrown upwards is accelerating downwards due ot the force of gravity even though it is moving upwards. This is why the ball slows down and eventually starts to fall. The ball is accelerating the moment it reaches its maximum height, where its velocity is zero, becuse it is changing direction to start moving downwards.
